Script assessment service

Have you written the first draft of a play and don’t know what to do next?
Have you begun writing a draft only to find it’s just not working?

Minola Theatre’s script assessment service is here to help.

Receive professional feedback and mentorship from Bianca Butler Reynolds, a published and award-winning playwright with a PhD in playwriting from QUT. An experienced university tutor, Bianca has helped hundreds of student writers find their voice and enhance their expressive and technical skills.

Depending on your needs and the stage of your work-in-progress, feedback is available regarding pace, tension, characterisation, voice, structure, dialogue, producibility and cost considerations, genre and form considerations, technical accuracy (formatting, syntax, grammar, punctuation), or whatever else you need!

Minola Theatre can tailor an assessment package to suit your needs and budget. Our standard services and rates can be found here.

Accessing your archetypes

It’s easy for actors to get stuck playing a particular type. It’s easy for writers to have all of their characters sound a little too alike. For performers and writers, success depends on being able to speak convincingly in a wide range of voices. This can be a challenge, particularly when presented with a character who seems like your polar opposite. But none of us are just one thing – we constantly move between different roles and versions of ourselves as we navigate new situations and relationships. This is an unconscious habit, but it doesn’t have to be. When you become conscious of your own multiplicity, you can harness its power for your creative outputs. You can learn to approach any character with authenticity and a unique voice – the things that set you apart as an artist.

Accessing Your Archetypes is a full-day workshop for writers and performers, presented by Minola Theatre. Under the guidance of two experienced facilitators, you will participate in activities and discussions that improve your confidence with the characters that come naturally to you and with those that don’t. You will access and activate your inner hero, trickster, monster and mystic, and learn about the relationships between these and other archetypes. You will learn more about your diverse identities, and learn how to bring these to life on the page or stage.
